The school district had set the calendar this year so that the first semester would end before winter break. Since a blizzard came in the middle of the last week before the break, they missed a couple of days - those being the last two days of the semester which would be the days that high schoolers take their finals.
Some schools cancelled finals for the semester and when the kids went back in January, they started with a clean slate - not Doherty, when Bri went back she went back to finals. She did great on them, even with the 3 week break between instruction and test ...

Anyway, with all the snow storms - 6 in as many weeks - which caused all the snow days, the school districts in the area have had to make some changes to the schedules.
Bri's school is cutting the Monday late starts in half (they used to start every monday an hour later so the department could all have plaing meetings - now they are only going to do that every other Monday) and added a few minutes to the beginning of every day.
Kaleb's school is adding 15 minutes each to the beginning and the end of each school day.
The district is deleting one staff development day and changing it to a class day. All this combined will give the kids the full amount of contact hours required by the state for their grade levels.
Oh, and it's snowing again.
